CSPI recently attended the Road Ecology: A National Agenda for Canada conference in Ottawa, November 27-28.  Road ecology is the study of the interactions between the environment and roads. At this annual national conference, leading ecologists come together to work with government and non-government transportation planners, scientists, educators and organizations to protect biodiversity from the threats posed by roads, through data collection, policy and public engagement.

The CSPI remains very involved in designing and collaborating to improve the protection that road crossings offer to both small and large wildlife. This ranges from small diameter Corrugated Steel Pipe with headwalls for reptiles and small animals, to large over and underpasses on major highways, for large animals, such as moose and bear.
